The Freaks met up at the Ashborough Trail in Summerville today for some fun twisty singletrack riding. The Ashborough Trail is an excellent trail with great armouring in all the right spots. Fast with twists in the trail which really make you work to keep your speed. A definite challenge to your bike handling skills…

Great work guys!

The Fat Tire Freaks participated in the Tour de Cure fundraiser ride for Diabetes this weekend. Extreme temperatures and unexpected multiple hill climbs did not break their spirits. A great time was had by all. Waiting at the finish was a great lunch with lots of cold frosty refreshments!

Congrats to Luke Farrow for riding and completing his first metric century! Way to go Luke!

Riders present were:
Nick Latto - Team Captain!
Don Watts
Luke Farrow
Nick Luther
Joel Watson

Not only did all riders have a great ride this year, we were also one of the top fundraiser teams this year!

Cheers guys!

The annual Catawba Riverfront Classic was held at the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte on June 7th 2009.
It was a great event with excellent weather. The trail really hooked up and really helped edge out some deserved victories.

Riding up from Charleston to represent the Freaks were Brad Phillips and Joel Watson.

Congratulations to Brad Phillips for a super-STRONG 2nd place finish with a tree bashing thrown in for an additional challenge.
Congratulations to Joel Watson for his 3rd place finish in the SingleSpeed division…

Here are updates on some of our locals participating in the many “XC racing” events happening out there…

Harbison Race To The River Race#3 in the Southern Classic Series was held on Sunday, April 19, 2009

Brief details of the drag race were that it was fast, furious and fun…Great turnout, great food, prizes and atmosphere…

Congratulations to Brad Phillips for his 2nd place finish in Cat 2 Men 30-39

Joel Watson also raced and barely managed to finish the race…looks like maybe his beer and Popeye’s Chicken training diet needs to be reconsidered…
